CLINICS
& OTHER SERVICES
Appointments are needed for all the
clinics listed below.
Minor Surgery
Certain minor surgical procedures are performed by the doctors at the surgery,
thus saving patients the necessity to visit the hospital.
Cryosurgery
This is done monthly by Dr Siddiqui, and is for the treatment of warts and skin
tags. Please discuss with one of the doctors whether your problem is amenable
to cryosurgery before making an appointment for the wart clinic.
Maternity
Services
We provide full antenatal and postnatal care in conjunction
with the community midwife.
Family Planning
Family planning advice may be obtained from any doctor during any surgery.
Family planning services, including advice on safe sex, are provided.
Cervical Smears
Cervical smears are recommended
every three years for women below the age of 65 who have not had a hysterectomy.
The test is quick and painless and can pick up abnormalities early, preventing
the development of cervical cancer.
The practice operates a recall system
so you will be sent an invitation to attend when your smear is due.
Smears
are very important. So even if you do not wish to have a smear please come and
discuss the issue with the doctor rather than ignoring the invitation.
Childrens Immunisation Clinic
Please
contact the practice nurse who will be happy to arrange immunisation for your
child.
Travel Immunisations
With
the increase in long haul travel, particularly to tropical destinations, it is
very important that travellers arrange to be protected against diseases such as
typhoid, hepatitis and malaria. The practice nurse is available by appointment
to give advice and free immunisations as appropriate.
Tetanus
(Booster Recommended Every 10 Years)
Tetanus is a life-threatening
disease. It is fortunately rare mainly because of vaccination. Tetanus spores
are present in soil and animals and may be introduced into the body during a puncture
wound, or trivial unnoticed wounds. It is therefore important to maintain immunity.
For those who have had their normal childhood immunisations which include tetanus,
a booster is recommended every 10 years. If you think you may not be fully immunised
or that your immunity has lapsed, please make an appointment with the nurse.
Flu Vaccination
This is available
in the autumn and is advised for the elderly, diabetics, asthmatics, patients
with chest problems and other conditions as recommended by your doctor.
NON-NHS WORK
In this
practice we charge the BMA recommended fee for non-NHS duties such as completing
passport forms, driving medicals, insurance claim reports, etc.
